Zombie Party

Zombie parties are becoming extremely popular as costumes are very easy to make. There’s nothing funnier than having a building full of zombies and then venturing out to town to scare the local populace!

A zombie party is the one social occasion where the idea is to turn up looking your worst! In fact its advised that you throw your zombie party while hung over and having gone several days without washing.

Take a look at the following zombie party ideas and for heavens sake…try and keep your head on!

Zombie Parties Bring The Worst Out In People

Zombie Party Invitations

Don’t neglect your invitations. If you send them out on print outs of something zombie related then all your guests will know you’re serious about putting on one heck of a show.

Look online for pictures of the following and print them off perhaps with a speech bubble if applicable:

1. A Zombie (of course)
2. Brains
3. A Tombstone

If your invitation is of a zombie then in the speech bubble you could write telling them to bring their brains.

Make sure you also create a zombie Facebook group. You can use it to hype up your party as the day approaches. Put up photos of zombies and perhaps a few tips (which you’ll find here) on how to make costumes. Also, once your zombie party has finished you’ll be able to upload all your images and video to the Facebook group, tagging all your friends and you’ll have a great place to go for your memories.

Zombie Party Costumes

Zombie costumes are fun and easy to make. You can however bypass this whole process and buy one of your very own professionally made Zombie Party Costumes. They come in all guises as you never know when a zombie is going to attack you whether you’re delivering the mail, treating the sick in hospital or lying in bed asleep.

If you’re making your own zombie costume then pick and choose from the following to suit your own tastes:

1. Cover yourself in grey make up. Go heavier under the eyes!

2. Go over parts of the grey in green and other parts in red.

3. Achieve the crusty look by mashing potato, dying it green and plastering your skin with it. Leave it on for ten minutes, enough for it to set and when you take it off you’ll have an awesome green flaky skin look.

4. Choose your oldest and worst clothes as they’re gonna get messed up! The day before your party bury your shirt overnight to get the smell of a corpse on it. It’ll also look filthy and you’ll have an awesome story about how some anonymous guy on the internet told you to bury your shirt.

5. Put rips in your shirt, pants and jacket etc. If you can make it so there’s strips hanging off then this’ll look really cool. You could chop one leg off your pants if your wanted or a hole in the knee and put your foot through the hole.

6. Have a nap before setting out so you look dishevelled and your hair is all messed up. Otherwise style just one side of your hair in a wayward fashion.

7. Where there’s holes in your shirt you could create more flaky skin with the left over potato or use red food dye for blood. Use the dye of course to blood your clothes, face and hands.

8. If you wear odd shoes then you’ll probably have an awesome limp enforced upon you, no need to act it out.

9. Use your Fathers aftershave to give yourself that awful smell of the undead.

Zombie Party Decorations And Ideas

As with any theme party it’s your decorations that will really set it apart by making it truly authentic. The below list is by no means complete, merely just a few ideas to inspire you. Pick and choose as you see fit:

1. You can get ready made tombstones from Amazon, put it in your garden to scare your guests as they turn up. You can be extra funny and write the name of one of your guests on the tombstone.

2. Get a Zombie Cutout or two, again these are available online for only a few dollars! Prop it up by your front door to welcome everybody! You could also use them as door covers or to dangle down from doorways to scare people as they walk into dark rooms.

3. You can also use a Hanging Zombie to scare your guests. Hang it up from a door inside your house so that when the door is opened the hanging zombie is there right in their face! This is similar to the idea above, however you can actually get zombies that were made for hanging from doors.

4. If you have dimmers in your house then have them on low settings. You could also substitute the light bulbs for green or red ones.

5. An alternative to the above would be to light the room by candle light.

6. Play the classic movie Night of the Living Dead on a loop on the TV. There are two versions of this amazing film. I personally find the older black and white version better.

7. In the toilets, where your guests are alone and vulnerable; play background music by means of a small CD player. Do you have any scary tunes? Look online for the Resident Evil soundtrack or anything by Marilyn Manson. You can also look at our list of zombie party music below for more song ideas.

8. Get a Fog Machine to create a scary fog to terrify everybody. This would be best stationed at the entrances. You can take photos of your guests as they make their zombie entrance through the fog. You can of course buy fog machines from Amazon but they are a little pricey. Renting may be a better idea for you.

9. Have a sign by the buffet table saying “Fresh Flesh” or “Brains!!!”

Zombie Party Games

1. Play Zombies! OK so i’m making this up as i go along but you remember the game tag at school where one person is on and when that person tags somebody then that person is also on. Eventually there’ll be more people on or Zombies than humans until there’s just one survivor left (the winner). The only rules are that the Zombies have to walk like Zombies (slowly) and be blindfolded! Trust me, this is gonna be one creepy game!

2. Have a “Best Zombie Walk” contest! The winning video goes on Youtube!

3. This one is not really a game but how about having a “Best Zombie Costume” contest! Let everyone on Facebook know you’re doing this to encourage everyone to make an effort.

    Hi Erika

If it’s for your university, i would consider something to do with brains. Perhaps something like “best brains come in” or something! I’m from the UK so i’m not too sure about homecoming parties.

Wish i could help more but i would certainly make it something to do with brains.
