The Mexican theme party or Fiesta (meaning feast or festival) happens many times throughout the year not only in Mexico but much of the western USA mainly on public holidays. The Mexican theme party is an opportunity for dancing, singing and eating delicious Mexican food.

1. Costumes - For the ladies, a traditional Mexican Fiesta dress will be expected. They come in a wide range of colours and designs and you should take good care to find one that you like. You should also get some accessories such as a headpiece and a Lei (necklace). It is an opportunity for you to get dolled up and make yourself look incredible! For the guys it is a chance to wear a full Serape, Mexican Poncho and Sombrero. Perhaps even a couple of pistols in your Texas belt (think Yosemite Sam)! As an alternative…You can dress up as Zorro!
2. Props - For the invitations you can buy some mini Sombreros with a note fixed to it. For the table centre piece (where the taco’s are going to be) you could have a large Sombrero in the middle, in fact get plenty of Sombreros and leave them lying around. Scatter bright red chilli peppers around the table. You should get your hands on several large Mexican flags and hang them up all over the place, also get some mini flags too. Get some green, white and red balloons to match the flags. Go to the local garden centre and pick up a cactus or 12. You can also get a big inflatable cactus.
3. Music - The Mexican theme party is all about music and dancing the Samba. Mariachi is the music of Mexico and Luis Miguel (Mexico’s most famous singer) released México en la Piel
4. Food - The food is going to be a big hit at your Mexican theme party. You need to get plenty of taco’s and tortillas and allow your guests to choose their own filling from the chilli, beef, salad and Enchilada sauces. It’s all about having a variety of Chilli Dishes so that your guests can pick and choose and try different things.
5. Drink - Your Mexican theme party would be nothing without plenty of Corona and lime, so stock up. Margaritas are the popular mix drink of choice. Also get plenty of tequila as this is going to be very popular with the men and ladies, but make sure it’s good tequila.
