Halloween Theme Party

A Halloween theme party is actually quite a large theme that can be further narrowed down into smaller categories.

Halloween theme partyYou can if you like have an open Halloween party theme or you can further narrow it down to the likes of movie characters, historical figures, super heroes or the usual monsters for example. It’s completely up to the host which Halloween party theme they choose, but what is important is that once the theme is decided upon, it’s single mindedly created excluding all other sub themes.

For this page though, I will assume that you are going for the more traditional monsters Halloween party theme.

Halloween Party Invitations

Always send out invitations to your Halloween party, they are what sets it all up and gets your guests into the party mood from an early stage!

Find some scary pictures of monsters on the web or perhaps pictures of favorite characters such as the Wolfman, Frankenstein or the Green Goblin. Print them out and then cut them into their shapes. You can now write your invites on the back of these!

In addition I also recommend you set up a Facebook group. You can use this to keep your guests updated on any changes of plans etc. You can also ask for any ideas from them on what they’d like to see or do at the party. But the most important reason to start a Facebook group is that they will always always increase your attendance levels. This is because all your guests will be able to see exactly who is already coming and once they know your party is going to be popular they’re more likely to come themselves.

Halloween Party Costumes

There are so many ideas for Halloween party costumes and i’m sure you’ve got a few in your mind, but just in case there’s (for ladies); Princess Leia, Daphne from Scooby-Doo, the Cat Woman, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, a female pirate, Pocahontas, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, Tinker Bell, the killer from Scream or a Smurf! And for the guys there’s; Mr Potato Head, The Hulk, Spiderman, The Joker, A Bavarian, The Mad Hatter, Bigfoot, a Stormtrooper, the Killer from Scream, Captain Jack Sparrow, a Roman soldier, Frankenstein or you could even dress up in full body spandex which is becoming real popular recently! There is a place I went to which is probably the best place in the world for costumes; go here for Ladies Halloween Costumes or here for Mens Halloween Costumes!

Make sure you state on your invitations that dressing up is essential or otherwise charge your guests on the door!

Halloween Party Decorations

Decorating your place for a Halloween party theme has become as essential as decorating for Christmas. Pick and choose from the following list:

1. Decorate the path leading to your house with lanterns or pumpkins.

2. Invest in some gargoyles, ghosts, mummies, demons, witches, black cats, vampires, wear wolves and other creatures of the night to spread around your venue.

3. Body parts will also add to the atmosphere and keep your guests on edge.

4. Replace your light bulbs with either red, blue or green coloured ones and light plenty of candles around the room for ambiance.

5. Hang some string from the threshold of a darkened room so it dangles on your guests face as they enter. This’ll really scare the hell out of them!

6. Consider hiring a mist generating machine for effect!

Here is where to go for the best Halloween Party Decorations at the best prices!

Halloween Party Music

Some Halloween Party Music favourites of mine include Monster Mash, Thriller, Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters, People Are Strange and Wearwolves Of London to name but a few.

Halloween Party Food

Obviously no Halloween theme party would be complete without sweets…and bucket loads of them, for the kids and adults alike! You should buy or decorate your own cake with a Halloween design. Place your own edible big licorice spider on top. You can get creative with your Halloween party food. Mashed potato is easily pliable and can be made into any shaped monster. For your cookies, you can buy monster shaped pastry cutters.

Halloween Party Ideas

Hosting your own Halloween theme party can be one of the most rewarding yet scary (no pun intended) experiences of your life. There is much to consider, things to buy in, food to prepare and that’s just before your party begins. I’m sure you want everything to go amazingly well from the moment your guests start to arrive. And arrive they will in huge numbers and all at the same time, you’ll want to make sure you’re at the top of your game. This is why I recommend Theme Party Secrets to ensure you frighten your guests and not yourself when planning and hosting your Halloween theme party. It will walk you through the entire planning process as well as what to do at every step of your Halloween party from start to finish.
