The Toga theme party is very popular within college dorms due to it’s cost effectiveness and simplicity.
The Toga theme party is supposed to replicate the decadent and profligate parties held in ancient Rome and Greece where anything went. Couples would frequently retire to their respective corners to fornicate with one another. However, throwing a Toga party will be your chance to get incredibly drunk with your buddies and acquire a reputation as the party man amongst your peers.

Toga Party Invitations
You should be creative with your invites as they’ll get your guests excited from an early stage! Send them out on cut outs of some of the following:

Also you should create a Facebook event page. As your guests will be able to see everyone who’s invited, this typically increases attendance levels. You’ll also be able to keep everyone updated with any changes and get them excited for the toga party in advance. In addition to all that however, having a Facebook group for your party will enable you to upload all your photos and videos from the party to the group after it’s finished. You will be able to “tag” all your mates in the pictures and this will of course create everlasting memories from the great night.
Toga Party Costumes
The heart and soul of any Toga party is the costumes. If you aint wearin a Toga, you aint comin in! And this should be stated on your invitations.
You really don’t need to spend any money on a costume for a Toga party as they are the easiest costumes in the world to make. A Toga is essentially a piece of linen or cloth, usually a bed sheet. You should wrap it about 1.5 times around your waist and then throw the rest over your shoulder. Guys and girls wear more or less the same thing. Just play around with the accessories.
Additional pieces of the outfit are sandals and a leaf Laurel Headpiece. Belts can be worn to keep the Toga in place.
Toga Party Decorations
You need to try and recreate an ancient Greek or Roman setting. There are quite a few things you can do to achieve this however, some of them are dependant on the size of your budget. I’ve created a list below so simply pick and choose as you see fit. Remember that the more you try to make your venue look Roman, the more authentic your party will feel:
1. Busts
2. Terra Cotta Urns

4. Lots of candles spread around the room
5. Play National Lampoon’s Animal House on a loop! In fact you should watch it for research as it’ll give you plenty of ideas, it’s a great film too!
6. If you know of a venue with a marble floor you could use then great!
Toga Party Music
OK I’m realistic here. To have a truly authentic Toga theme party, you’d have to play classical music to make it seem real. But let’s face it…You’re probably not going to do that!!! So just play whatever rock music you fancy!
Toga Party Food
To be as authentic as possible you should serve oysters on ice. Have plenty of grapes, still on their stalks and try and get them fed to you like in countless movies. To be less authentic, you could have a BBQ. Burgers and hot dogs will be popular, just make sure that whoever makes them wears an apron over his Toga lest he set on fire!
Toga Party Drinks
In the film National Lampoon’s Animal House they drink beer from kegs. So there is one suggestion for you! But back in ancient Greece it would have been wine. Have your guests bring a bottle of wine either red or white. You could even drink from one of those ancient silver wine goblet things if you have one!
