Arabian Nights Party Theme

An Arabian Nights party theme is supposed to create a sense of intrigue and mystery surrounding princes, princesses, kings, queens and thieves.

Your aim is to try and create the Moroccan desert at night. So consider holding your Arabian party theme at the beach. I highly suggest you rent a Moroccan Bedouin tent for the occasion as this is the essence of the Arabian party theme and will help create an incredible scene. They come in all sizes and should fit your budget.

1. Costumes – Think Aladdin. Slinky harem pants, pointed slippers and turbans. The ladies should aim to look like Jasmine.

2. Scene – Getting the scenery right for your Arabian nights party theme can really make the difference. Below is quite a large list for you to consider:

• Most importantly (although not essential) is hiring a Bedouin tent!
• Obtain some Moroccan style patio lanterns. The lighting in the tent/room should be dim.
• Cover the floor with Moroccan style rugs.
• Get plenty of cushions and pillow, put them all over the floor.
• Tables and sofas should preferably be as low down as possible.
• Hang crescent moons and stars from the ceiling on ropes.
• Consider hiring a belly dancer, snake charmer, hena artist, fire eater or fortune teller.
• Hire a camel and park it on a rope outside. Failing this, get a goat.
• Play Aladdin on a loop
• The main colour theme should be red and gold.
• Light plenty of candles around the venue.

3. Food – You should ideally be eating while sitting on the floor, the trays of food should be kept at foot level.

It is traditional for guests to bathe their fingers in scented water before eating. I suggest you add a few drops of essential oil to a bowl of water for this.
